Witness

Witnessing is a vital expression of our Christian faith. It involves sharing our faith in Jesus Christ with other people.

There are two parts to witnessing. The first is when we share the news of our salvation with our family, friends and associates. The second is when we tell people about God's love expressed in Christ Jesus as He died for our sins and how we need to put our faith in His sacrifice.

A lot of people feel shy or scared of sharing their faith. This is a natural reaction that we have to learn to overcome. We can pray for boldness, we can go out with other believers that are sharing the gospel, we can read books on the subject, and so on.

Jesus Christ encouraged us not to be ashamed of Him before men (Luke 9:26). And there is joy in leading other people to Jesus Christ (Luke 15:10).

For those around you, the transformation of your life by the word of God provides a ready avenue for witnessing. You can share your story and your experience. In witnessing, we need to be careful to avoid arguments and debates, our duty is to just tell the people the truth; and leave the rest to God.

The coming kingdom of God is another good platform to share the gospel - how the second coming of Jesus would lead to God’s fierce judgment, and how a way of escape is still possible today for those who choose to repent.

Whatever you decide to do, please bear it in mind that witnessing is much more productive when it is preceded by prayers.
